Kate Bush's cover of 'Rocket Man'. Happy beats for a sad song.

Does everyone else get these ? So good.

SO hot in Melbourne. I crave the beach and the salt water on my poor stingy hayfever eyes. They are all pink and tired and itchy and irritated. I hope that it will pass soon. This image is from Syoin Kajii hopefully delivers some sea dreams.

I love this kid's bed in a wardrobe. Ultimate cubby.
I have always been a believer in each space being designed for a particular purpose. A 'sleeping space' instead of a bedroom. A place entirely dedicated to sleeping. I would love to have a house where there was a sleeping space and a dressing space. Separate functions in specifically thought out spaces.

This sleeping space is another good one. House in Plum Grove SANAA.
Sometimes new spaces seem so empty when they have no connection to any built past. I'm going to visit a space tomorrow and cast my eyes over some plans for it's new life. The paint was scraped off the other day to reveal brass window frames and oak doors. It was once a place called 'Lacrosse town couriers'. Ha. A 'Lacrosse The Planet' sticker was once on its doors.

Architecture isn't just building new things, from scratch, things that are seen as a single entity. I like to believe it's also an act of analysis, a carefully considered intervention into a landscape, into an existing fabric. A response.

"ps: i have a fear
of non-lived in spaces

one of the reasons
i didn't pursue architecture,
was that i didn't want to
build anything new."

The beautiful work of Jake Walker at Gallery 9 in Sydney. If you live there, go to it and stare at it. You will become enlightened. Trust me. We have one at home and I am a much better person for it.

I really love this clip. So many beautiful colours.

A couple of years ago, in a lounge in a giant house in Albert Park, a few of us sat around and watched Elvis. It was his live comeback performance in 1968. 'Elvis' was up in big red lights and there he sat, on a platform in a sea of (older than they were when he did blue suede shoes) girls, performing and smirking his best smirk. In head to toe black leather.
Romy and I were about to have a Safari Party, and 'tiger man' got us all welled up with excitement. Romy was pondering writing a story about planning your funeral, and for hers, we are going to have her name, big, spelled out in lights.

Romy comes home in 17 days. Excellently soon.

I'm 28. It was my birthday on Monday, I had an amazing day.

My little second cousin Ashley posted this clip with a caption 'so this is where Beyonce got her moves for Single Ladies'.

I've been at this game for a while now. I like to check what I was doing three years ago, or longer. This made me smile today.

...

gen bought me poppies
they are slowly unfolding at my desk
from being so crumpled to being so fine and transparent
i love watching them
three have opened today already

she told me about a place in tasmania
where there is a strange religion in a little
town where a friend of her's lives

they wear scarves on their heads and
long skirts
and they believe heaven is at the end of a street in
that town
gens friend lives on that street
but the wrong end

"heaven is at the end of my street
and i live at the wrong end"

we decided that would be a good song

these people also believe that
you cant look at any type of screen
not a computer or a television

but they correspond with the leader of their religion by email

they go to the nearest computer place
which is run by two gay guys in the town and
get the men to log in to the email and
print off their correspondance

I recently aquired one of the most precious pieces of vintage I have ever found. A gorgeous cotton 50s wedding dress. I'll show you once I've had it dry cleaned and the zip replaced!
I found this precious place on the internet today.
I'm not getting married, I know people who are though. How incredible is this lace?

Some stills from the film Kelly's Blues that I worked on earlier this year...
more to come as I get them!
